Appointment
Information

How long does it take?

Allow about 60 minutes for your first appointment or possibly longer if you have a complex health history and I need more time to get all the details about this.  Follow up appointments are typically shorter, around 30mins.  Please also allow a little extra time at the end for me to make up your medicines.

What can you expect to happen in the appointment?

During your appointment we will talk about what problems are troubling you and then there will be further questions to help understand more about you and your health history.

At some point you will be asked to poke out your tongue.

Tongues tell us a lot about what is happening inside people and, over the course of treatments, they go through subtle but important changes.

I will also spend time feeling the pulses at your wrist and, later in the appointment, may again use your pulse to help test some herbs that I am thinking of giving you.

At some point you may also be asked to lie down on an examination table to have your belly or other areas of concern gently palpated over a layer of clothing.

By the end of the appointment, you will be given a course of one or more herbs to take and there will very likely also be some achievable goal within dietary or lifestyle medicine to further support your healing process alongside the herbs.

You will also have a dialogue with me about how to best follow up on your progress to be sure that you are getting good results in a timely manner.

How much does it cost?

First appointments:

- Initial consultation (approx. 1hr) $95

- Initial extended consultation (2hrs) $150

- Initial consultation for a child under 12 $65

Follow ups:

- Follow up consultations: $65-$85 - depending on the time required and level of support needed.

Any recommended supplements are additional and prescribed herbal medicines dispensed have a standard price guide that covers most of the herbs that are typically used:

For example, a 50ml course of liquid extracts will cost $24, a 100ml bottle will cost $36 and a 200ml bottle will cost $58. Jars of herbal tea will typically cost around $20 to $30.

There is no consultation charge for repeat prescriptions that are dispensed.  Tincture bottles can be refilled for a $1 discount per bottle.

Payment options:

Payment can be made in cash or by internet banking on the same day of the appointment upon invoice.

What do you have to bring?

You only need to bring yourself, but some people find it helpful to write a list of their concerns and/or to make some notes about their medical history; e.g. what has happened, what was done to help and how it worked. You can bring copies of medical tests if you wish but this is not required and is probably only really important when something abnormal has been reported. You are certainly warmly welcome to bring a partner or other support person to your appointment if you wish.
